Father Nature: Fathers As Guides to the Natural World (American Land and Life Series)
Published in Hardcover by University of Iowa Press (June, 2003)
Authors: Stan Tag, Wayne Franklin, and Paul S. Piper
Average review score:

varied voices of fathers, kids, and ties with nature
A moving and varied collection of essays about the importance of fathering in our contemporary culture, with a unique perspective that ties fathering to learning about life through the natural world. There are fishermen, but also robin-watchers, beach-walking, daughters' viewpoints, and a whole range of parenting experiences. The voices are varied -- sad, funny, emotional -- and all sincere. A beautiful, finely edited collection.

FDR and the Creation of the U.N
Published in Hardcover by Yale Univ Pr (April, 1997)
Authors: Townsend Hoopes and Douglas Brinkley
Average review score:

Detailed book for anyone seriously interested
While this book would be leisure reading to only the most dedicated UN or FDR follower, it is one of the best books I could find for a report on the subject. The book is quite thorough and the different aspects the authors discussed gave me a greater understanding of the process. Many of the decisions made prior to the creation of the UN were delicate with the opposing desires of Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin. This book explains how Roosevelt contributed along with other factors that affected his moves including early influences from Wilson's League of Nations. Although this book would not be for everybody, it is a must read for those with a genuine intrest--or a school report--on this subject.

The FDR Way (Great Presidential Decisions)
Published in Library Binding by Lerner Publications Company (February, 1996)
Author: Jeffrey Morris
Average review score:

The informative easy read
This book, although geared toward an adolescent audience, provided me not only with an excellent background in to FDR's life and decisons, but also addressed issues about his presidency which is rarely found in any book for young adults. The language of the book is pithy and clear, and hence appropriate for any age group. My Grandmother adores the series, after reading any of the books she feels as though she has really learned something. Also, the books themselves are very attractive.

Fdr, 1882-1945
Published in Hardcover by Viking Press (January, 1982)
Authors: Joseph Alsop and Roland Gelatt
Average review score:

Well produced photo/reference book
A beautifully produced (and large size) history/reference of FDR. It gives a solid general overview of his life and career, but the best feature has to be the large photos throughout (be sure to consider getting the more sturdy hardbound edition)...

Franklin books are great for teaching
I first started buying franklin books in Canada and after moving to Switzerland 4 years ago, I had trouble finding good children's books. Franklin the Turtle is great for learning, plus the illustrations are very wonderful! The kids love them!

Or will it simply master science and keep going?

Excellent legal guide for any serious journalist
As a News Director at a top TV market, it is crucial I provide sound advise to my young reporters about their responsibilities and liabilities when pursuing a story. The First Ammendment and the Fith Estate should be requiered reading for all young journalists (and even some older journalists could refresh their knowledge with this book). I look forward to the next edition as we face a whole new world with Cybernews and DTV.

The Flavors of France: Fabulous Vegetarian Cuisine for Every Occasion: An Earthly Delight Cookbook
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (September, 1995)
Authors: Jean Conil and Fay Franklin
Average review score:

Outstanding!
What a beautiful delightful book. A host of great recipes for anyone who enjoys vegtables and fruits. There are numerous vegetable stew and vegetable soup recipes that can easily be adjusted for whatever produce you have. Fantastic hot and cold soups and several healthy gazpacho like dishes that will make your mouth water. The full color photos are so colorful; the food so fresh looking that they seem to leap from the pages. Everything looks so delicious. Even those who are not vegetarians will like this book because it makes you want to eat more vegtables. A wide range of veggies are featured cooked numerous ways or not at all. Colorful salads and fruits.

This book is not just about light dishes either. There are some very rich cheese recipes including an very easy to follow souffle recipe. Try the three cheese pie or the brie fritters. The deserts are equally wonderful with an emphasis on fresh fruits. Everything you could ask for is here on how to use your garden to make wonderful delicious meals.

The only draw back is that no vegetable broth recipe is provided even though it is used in many of these recipes. Vegetable broth isn't complicated but it would be nice to get a good recipe for it.
